2. EUROPEAN MYELOMA NETWORK KONGRESS - VIRTUELLE KONFERENZ 3.-6. MÄRZ 2021
MULTIPLE MYELOMA: THE RESEARCH NEVER STOPS, WITH THE RESULTS ON VIEW AT THE SECOND CONGRESS OF THE EUROPEAN MYELOMA NETWORK· The Congress, initially scheduled for 2020 and postponed due to the pandemic, will now be a digital event. It will take place between 3 and 6 March, and will connect haematologists and clinical trial experts across the continent.
· The first edition, held at Turin’s Lingotto Congress Centre in April 2018, registered some 700 participants from 44 different countries.
· Uniquely during this second edition, delegates will have the opportunity to interface directly with the speakers through instant chats.
· The digital Congress is promoted by EMN International. It’s organized with the support of EMN Research Italy, the Italian operating branch of the EMN network, in collaboration with the ER Congressi agency.
Registration for the Congress, for both individuals and groups, is open until 25 February. To enrol, applicants need simply compile the form available on the emn2021.com website. Where applicable, and contingent upon category (doctors, nurses, biologists, data managers, sponsors, researchers, etc.), participants will obtain ECM (Continuing Medical Education) and EBAH (European Board for Accreditation in Haematology) credits. The press area of the website also features a dedicated Media accreditation section.
The digital Congress is promoted and organized by EMN International. Support is provided by EMN Research Italy, the Italian operational branch of the network, whilst secretarial services are managed by ER Congressi. The event features an intense programme of conferences. They will be hosted by renowned experts from haematology research centres across Europe and the United States, and will be accompanied by lectures and symposia. In addition, there will be “virtual” meetings with experts, and debates and discussions with patient associations. The Congress will be completed by the oral exposition of 16 of the very best study abstracts, carefully selected from those submitted by researchers and scientists from all over Europe. Moreover, 72 scientific posters will be on view. They are categorised across four distinct themes, and collectively they constitute an authentic information suite.
During the live meetings, participants will be afforded the opportunity to interact with session moderators and speakers through instant virtual chats. What’s more, all materials and recordings of the oral presentations will be made available for consultation subsequent to the event. The previous edition, hosted by Turin in 2018 and featuring some 700 delegates from 44 countries, focussed heavily on young researchers. It’s a theme which is set to continue, with the eight best abstracts by authors under the age of 40 highlighted.
The scientific organizers charged with coordinating the programme of events are Professor Pieter Sonneveld (Rotterdam) and Professor Sonja Zweegman (Amsterdam). Assistance is provided by Doctor Francesca Gay (Turin) and Doctor Niels van de Donk (Amsterdam) from the scientific secretariat. The international nature of the event is underscored by the composition of the scientific board, with no fewer than five countries represented. The Dutchman Pieter Sonneveld is President of EMN, and his vice is Italy’s Mario Boccadoro. Completing the board are Professor Hermann Einsele from Germany, Professor Maria-Victoria Mateos (Spain) and Professor Philippe Moreau (France).
For the medical and research community, the ability to debate and network is absolutely key. Productive dialogue remains the cornerstone of scientific advancement, and never more so than during the global pandemic. As such, the Second European Myeloma Network Meeting is of fundamental importance for anyone involved in Multiple Myeloma research.
